Our story

Slow design, honest materials.

Since 2017

A studio for the home.

maison&flora began as a quiet conversation between two friends — a chef and a ceramicist — about why our everyday objects had stopped feeling like ours. We started with a single set of stoneware plates, made in a small studio in Caldas da Rainha, and the response told us we weren't the only ones looking for the same thing.

Today we work with eleven small studios across Europe — and we still know every maker by name. We're not interested in trends. We're interested in the kind of objects you wash up, use again, and pass on.

What we believe

01

Made by hands

Every piece we sell is finished by a person, not a machine. Small marks are signatures.

02

Built to last

We choose materials and makers for objects that age well — cast iron, linen, oak, copper.

03

Honestly priced

We work directly with studios. No middlemen, no markups for marketing.

The makers

Eleven studios. One conversation.

From a foundry outside Lisbon to a woodworking studio in the Cotswolds, from a glassmaker in Bohemia to a linen mill in Vilnius — every studio we work with is small, independent, and family-owned. We visit at least twice a year.

    A single set of plates

Founded above a ceramics studio in Caldas da Rainha with one product and a lot of faith.

    Three more studios

Linen from Vilnius, glass from Bohemia, oak from the Cotswolds. The first 10,000 customers.

  3. 2021

    The Paris studio

Opened our flagship showroom and atelier in the 3rd arrondissement.

  4. 2023

    1% for the planet

Committed 1% of revenue to European reforestation. Switched to plastic-free packaging.

    Eleven studios

Today we work with eleven independent studios across six countries — and we still know every maker by name.
